A common question I'm asked when talking to newly pregnant yogis is, "When should I start prenatal yoga?" The quick answer is the second trimester, but let me explain why.
The first trimester of pregnancy can be tough for many moms. You may be dealing with nausea, exhaustion, or just feeling a bit uncomfortable. I remember feeling indescribably "weird" doing a long shoulderstand a week before I found out I was pregnant.
The second trimester is often called the "sweet spot" of pregnancy. You're over the morning sickness, feeling cute with your belly, and not yet uncomfortable. Now is the time to get moving and to start learning all the techniques for relaxation and for labor that we go over in class. The more time you have to practice, the better. And continuing to keep active can stave off a lot of aches and pains that may come later.
The sooner you can come to class, the longer you have to foster friendships with the other moms, as well as to draw inspiration from them!
We can't wait to meet you and are ready to see you and your belly, big or small. :)
