There's a common misconception in our community that prenatal yoga classes are nothing more than a nice, relaxing stretch. At East Side Yoga, we're proud of the fact that our prenatal classes offer our mamas-to-be much more than just a good stretch!
Yes, we incorporate various yogic stretches into class, so you can find ease if you are experiencing discomfort in the lower back, legs, neck and/or shoulders, but the benefits of prenatal yoga stretch way beyond that! (Ha)
For example, we cover strategies that can help if you’re having trouble sleeping or feeling anxious; everything from breathing techniques to restorative positions that relax the body, mind & nervous system. One of my favorite ways to end class is by offering my students a soothing rub-down while they rest consciously in side-savasana. I’ve had many moms tell me they started sleeping in that position after learning it in class!
And this class isn't just about the relaxation - we also challenge you (safely, of course) to help you build the strength and stamina you need, and help you get moving in ways that feel great in your pregnant body.
