about our classes
The vinyasa flow style of teaching forms the core of our class offerings at east side yoga. We understand that once you've gotten familiar with the basics, labels like "beginner," "intermediate," and "advanced" aren't particularly useful when deciding which class to take. So instead, our classes are named based on the experience you'll have on the mat. Check in with yourself and choose the class that works best for you today!
All attendees must be 18 years or older.
To attend one of our regularly-scheduled group classes, you are always welcome to walk-in, or you can sign up ahead of time by clicking "schedule" above. We always recommend that you arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the class' scheduled start time; for walk-ins, we recommend 10 minutes.
Latecomers will be admitted into indoor classes after centering is completed, up to 15 minutes after class has begun. Latecomers will NOT be admitted into rooftop classes once centering is completed (approx. 5 min after class is scheduled to begin).
We recommend you bring your own mat. If you don’t have your own, we have mats available to rent for $2.
Hands-on adjustments will be offered;
if you prefer not to be adjusted, please inform your instructor before class.
foundations of flow
This class is a great way to learn key skills that you’ll use during every yoga practice. We go over key poses, and share best practices for alignment and posture.
relaxed flow
If you're looking for a lower-key, more meditative flow, this class is for you. Suitable for those newer to yoga or dealing with minor mobility issues and injuries. Modifications and variations will be offered to allow you to tailor the practice to your personal needs and goals.
energetic flow
This class is designed for folks looking to get sweaty on the mat. The briskly-paced flow incorporates challenging yet accessible poses to create an active, energetic sequence. A limited number of arm balances and inversions may be included, and modifications and variations will be offered to allow you to tailor the practice to your personal needs and goals.
moderate flow
This medium level flow class is our middle-of-the-road offering: not too fast, not too slow, not too hard, not too easy. Consider it our version of bipartisanship.
express flow
This 50-minute all-levels flow class is the perfect way to refresh your mind, recharge your body, and leave the mat ready for the rest of your day!
PLEASE NOTE: Latecomers to 6:30am express flow classes will not be permitted to enter once centering is completed (approximately 5 min. after class is scheduled to begin).
slow + sweaty flow
In this Medium level class, poses will be held for longer periods of time and sequences will be slower. This allows the teacher to offer more guidance on alignment and breath control. This is a great class for folks who are newer to yoga but also looking for a physical challenge - the slower pace allows for more alignment instruction while also providing a greater physical challenge!
yin yoga
Yin yoga is a restorative and therapeutic practice that is an amazing complement to flow yoga and high intensity workouts (like running, triathloning, etc.). It's also great for people whose bodies are stiff from sitting at a desk all day. Unlike our typical flow offerings, in Yin you hold seated and supine poses for extended periods of time. This allows you to really get into the poses, causing the fascia of your body (the tissue that surrounds your muscles) to soften and become rehydrated. It also allows the muscles room to stretch and release tension. While you're hanging out in these poses, our instructor will come around to help you use props to find the ideal version of the pose for your body. Once you're settled, she'll offer assists and mini-massages to help you really relax into the pose.
This special hybrid class is the perfect pre-bedtime practice. We start with 30-minutes of Slow + Sweaty flow, and end with 30 minutes of Yin!
